On the eve of the 152nd Kentucky Derby, the Galt House Hotel was filled with the sound of a celebration that has come to define Derby Week in Louisville! The Unbridled Eve Derby Gala returned for its latest chapter, and for one glittering night the room belonged entirely to celebration- and to its cause.
The stage carried a lineup worthy of the occasion. Rock-and-roll great Richie Sambora headlined, joined across the evening by platinum selling American Idol artist Phillip Phillips, Hip-Hop legends the Sugarhill Gang, country great Lorrie Morgan, Looking Glass’s Elliot Lurie, Johnny Edwards of Foreigner, the amazing Crashers and others. The dance floor stayed packed all night!
Around the room, the guest list read like a crossing of worlds, the way Unbridled Eve always does. Among those who walked the red carpet were legendary author Nora Roberts, Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon, Melissa Joan Hart, Danica McKellar, Dateline NBC’s Andrea Canning, John Schneider, Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos, Gina Torres, and 2026 Miss America Cassie Donegan; a gathering of sports, screen, and song all turned toward one shared cause.

But the heart of the night was even more than the marquee. Since Tammy York Day and Tonya York founded Unbridled Eve in 2012, the gala has helped raise more than $5 million for over 45 charitable organizations, and generated tens of millions more in value by lifting the profile of the partners who stand alongside it.
The night also marked a deliberate change of form. In place of the plated dinner of years past, this year’s gala moved to a curated food-station/buffet format, and based on our guest surveys, the guests loved it: the food offerings were rated Very Good to Excellent. Thanks to Galt’s amazing Chef’s Austin and Drew! The verdict on the rest of the evening was just as clear. Guests gave the event great ratings and called it their “favorite event of the year,” “one of the best Galas I have ever attended,” and “the most organized year yet.” A steady stream of email and text updates continued heir own praise as “first class.”
The spectacular Silent Auction did its part as well. It remains one of the foundation’s most direct lines of support to its beneficiaries, and this year’s lots carried the room: once-in-a-lifetime trips, curated experiences, and a handful of rare luxury pieces that kept the bidding lively and the cause front of mind.
Guests would tell you the night held many unforgettable moments, but one stood above the rest: Richie Sambora and the York Sisters auctioning off the very guitar he had just played on stage. It was a reminder that an extraordinary experience, offered in the right spirit, becomes lasting support for the people Unbridled serves. Tickets for next year are available now at www.unbridledeve.com, with more Unbridled gatherings still to come later this year.
With the music still ringing and 2027 already on the calendar, the guests said it best: they are counting down the days. And so are we.
